Student Explores the World of Orthodontics Through Dr. Zachary's Mentorship Program
Mentorship is an essential part of Dr. Zachary's orthodontics practice and he enjoys the opportunity to share his wisdom with young students who are interested in possibly pursuing a career in orthodontics. Chloe Kempf from JSerra Catholic High School recently had an opportunity to shadow Dr. Zachary over the course of one month and get an inside view of the orthodontics profession.
A former patient, Chloe was able to see the full operations of an orthodontics clinic, beginning with the process for sterilization of the instruments, where she learned how various instruments are cleaned and catalogued. Chloe also worked with pouring models, which are a wonderful asset to the orthodontist as a three dimensional representation of a case. Dr. Zachary's office has all models stored since 1977! Another exciting part of the experience included diagnosis and treatment planning for patients. This gave Chloe an opportunity to see how treatment plans are prepared for each individual patient based on their specific needs.
A primary objective of the program is to promote opportunities for students to work closely with Dr. Zachary to grasp a better understanding of what orthodontics is all about. As a leading expert in the field, Dr. Zachary enjoys sharing clinical knowledge and skills with future orthodontists and students seeking careers in the dental field.
