New Initiative Empowers Consumers to Manage Personal Finances and Secure Their Financial Future
In an effort to ensure that Southern California consumers achieve financial stability and reclaim their financial future after the housing crisis and recession, Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Orange County is participating in the Sharpen Your Financial Focus™ program. This nationwide initiative, launched by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling® (NFCC®) in partnership with major financial service companies, was developed to allow consumers to take that first giant step toward achieving their financial goals. CCCS-OC, a member of the NFCC, is providing local residents with free and comprehensive financial reviews, financial self-assessment tools, and educational workshops as a part of the initiative.
"CCCS-OC is thrilled to implement this important and innovative program. With support from national financial service companies including Bank of America, Chase, GE Capital Retail Finance and Wells Fargo, we are providing consumers with the critical skills and tools necessary for sound management and long-term stability in all areas of their finances," said Cheryl Spencer-Borden, CCCS-OC President and CEO.
Southern California residents are encouraged to participate in the Sharpen Your Financial Focus program through the following actions:
- Take MyMoneyCheckUp® at www.cccsoc.org. MyMoneyCheckUp is a free, online, financial self-assessment tool designed to increase financial awareness and provide consumers with specific, concrete "next steps" to improve their financial well-being.
- Contact CCCS-OC by calling 714-547-2227 or 800-213-2227 to schedule an appointment with an NFCC Certified Financial Professional for a free, in-depth, financial review.
- Participate in a CCCS-OC "deep dive" financial workshop. These educational classes focus on major areas of interest to each consumer, including credit, housing, savings and investment, money management, and many more specialized topics.
